8 Fashionable Scrub Choices for Nurses

Nowadays, there are so many different brands of scrubs that it can be a challenge to even know where to start when you’re looking to make a purchase. This gets even more complicated for travel nurses who have to frequently buy new scrubs due to different color requirements across hospitals.

We all know that scrubs tend to be a bit pricey (despite popular belief of those who don’t work in healthcare!), and they can also be unflattering. It may take some trial and error, but there are scrubs out there that can accommodate different body shapes and sizes while still maintaining comfort and fashion.

Check out these scrub brands to help you look your best on the job:

1. Koi

While this list is in no particular order, I’ve put Koi at the top because it is the most flattering brand I have found for my body type (long, thin legs with wider hips). The drawstring cargo pants are stretchy and comfortable, and the material dries very quickly after washes.

Koi conveniently provides men’s, women’s, and unisex sizing. The brand also includes tall, petite, extra petite, and plus sizes, and you will not be charged extra for tall or plus sizes. I’ve had several pairs of Koi scrubs for over 2 years, and the colors have still remained fresh, even with washing them several times per week.

2. Grey’s Anatomy by Barco

Grey’s Anatomy scrubs are comfortable, stylish, and versatile. Sizes are available in regular, tall, extended, petite, and short to accommodate different body types. The brand has 5 different collections, so there are plenty of options to suit your style. Grey’s Anatomy prides itself on providing scrubs that stay fresh all day, are soft and comfortable, absorb moisture, and are easy to clean.

An interesting fact about Barco scrubs is that they are physically tested by healthcare professionals prior to more extensive production of the designs. This ensures that the uniforms reach a certain standard before they are sold to the public.

 3. Healing Hands

Healing Hands scrubs are known for their breathable fabrics, making them both comfortable and functional for nurses. These scrubs are also form-fitting and stylish, ranging from XXS through 5X in both men’s and women’s sizes. Additionally, the company website allows you to filter for special features, such as number of pockets, amount of stretch, and waist-band type.

4. FIGS

FIGS scrubs have been super trendy recently and are known for being both stylish and durable. In addition to the classic colors, FIGS offers unique color options, like quartz, lilac dawn, ultra rose, and heather olive. FIGS are designed to be anti-wrinkle, anti-odor, and anti-static while remaining soft and comfortable. There are a variety of top and pant styles, including the popular joggers and high-waisted pants.

While FIGS provides plenty of options for buyers, this brand also tends to be pricier than many of the other popular scrub chains. The company offers a student discount and a military discount, so be sure to check and see if you qualify. Additionally, the company does give back to the medical community through its Threads for Threads program, which provides clean scrub donations to medical professionals in countries with limited resources.

5. Wonderwink

Wonderwink provides “four stretch” fabric to help you find your perfect fit. The company offers V-neck, Y-neck, and boatneck necklines with both fitted and relaxed tops for comfort and style. Scrubs are moisture resistant, do not have any irritating inner tags, and are less prone to dryer shrinkage compared to other brands.

Whether you’re looking for something comfortable or a more tailored style, Wonderwink has numerous options to choose from. There are also a variety of sizes and inseams (petite, regular, and tall), but there is an additional surcharge for 2XL and larger scrubs and for tall fits. On the other hand, Wonderwink does tend to be more affordable, overall, compared to some of the other retailers on this list.

6. Dickies

Dickies has been in the game for quite some time and is known for providing durable workwear for men and women, with unisex sizes also available. These scrubs come in different styles, from a more rugged look to more of a “retro” vibe.

One limitation of the Dickies brand is that it does not offer as many color choices as a lot of the other common sellers. On the other hand, there is an excellent size range for larger body types, with options for “big and tall” sizes. The largest sizes are 5XL (for the men, women, and unisex categories), and the smallest sizes are XXS in the women’s and XS in men’s and unisex categories.

7. Jaanuu

Jaanuu scrubs come in a wide range of colors, from your classic ceil and royal blues to eggplant, chambray blue, and heather blackberry. While some companies provide a much larger color selection in women’s styles, Jaanuu incorporates a range of colors for both men and women’s fits. The company was actually founded by a medical doctor, and the featured styles keep both comfort and functionality in mind.

This brand tends to be pricier than some of the others, but there is generally a great sale selection, and there are discounts available for students. The company is also environmentally friendly and features premium fabrics, so you can expect to get good quality for your money.

8. Medline

Medline scrubs are one of the most affordable (if not THE most affordable) scrub brands on this list. They are sewn in the United States and offer a huge variety of sizes. This brand wrinkle resistant and quick-drying. Styles are comfortable and soft, and the colors are fade-resistant with washing.

While the cost and quality of Medline scrubs are definitely on point, it can sometimes be challenging to find the color and sizing you need on the website. While the size range is great, some of the most popular sizes may be temporarily sold out. Still, it’s a great option to browse, especially if you’re looking for something more affordable that is also fashionable.
