Why Enroll in Aspen University’s Online BSN Program?

Aspen University’s online BSN program not only had a lot of up-to-date reviews on GradReports, but the school also had some of the best overall alumni reviews of any of the programs we looked at. The school previously offered two ways to get your degree, but as of September 2022 only offers the RN-to-BSN.

Reviewers were keen to point out that instructors were quick to help them out, and that the program provided them the knowledge they needed to advance their careers in nursing.

Additionally, this university really differentiates itself by being transparent about the cost of tuition and fees for each track in its Bachelor’s of Nursing Science program.

Read on to see some first-hand reviews and learn more about the reasons Aspen Univerisity’s online BSN program may be a good choice.

Graduate Reviews of the BSN Program at Aspen University

Some former students left some positive reviews on GradReports. Here are a few of them:

“I graduated from the RN-BSN program in December 2021. It was hard! I did two classes at a time for 13 months. I was typing papers and answering discussion questions every single weekend for 13 months. Was it worth it? Yes it was. My professors were awesome, as well as my advisor Fred. If I had questions about assignments I reached out to him. He promptly returned calls and emails. I had high anxiety for 13 months but it was well worth it. I feel as though I’m a better prepared nurse today, even though I’ve been an RN for over 20 years! I enjoyed all of the classes that I was required to take. I took away so much knowledge from each class with the work required, as well as the discussions. It was fun learning how other nurses across the country balance work, life and school just like myself. I would recommend Aspen University RN-BSN program to other nurses and friends!”

-Tanya (August 26, 2022)

“This has been very straight forward college experience. Classes and instructors well thought, professors very attentive and quick with their grading and responses to any questions. Format was pretty straight forward, discussion post every Thursday, two responses to peers DQ every Sunday and Monday the main assignment. Each class was 8 weeks long and I have to say those 8 weeks went pretty fast. Aspen offers reasonable payment plan that worked great for me. Highly recommend to take classes at Aspen”

-Ewa (August 17, 2022)

“This program kept me from having to add to my student loan debt and allowed me to keep up with my grades while working a full time job. I will be using this degree to advance my career and will consider this college for future degrees. Aspen is affordable and adequate in academics. I learned a lot!!”

4 Pros of Aspen University’s Online BSN Program

The online BSN program at Aspen University has several benefits that help differentiate it from other programs. We discuss a few of them below.

1. Good Resources

Aspen University’s online BSN program features a lot of resources to help you reach your educational and career goals.

For example, you’ll get to interact with your classmates and instructors, allowing you to network as you learn.

Additionally, you’ll have access to one-on-one time with your teachers, letting you get to know and learn from experienced leaders in the nursing field.

2. Transparent Costs and Payment Plans

One of the biggest hurdles to getting your BSN can be the cost. Fortunately, Aspen University offers payment plans to make organizing your expenses more straightforward.

The online RN to BSN program clearly states that you can take out a private education loan with 0% fixed interest.

To pay off the loan, you’ll need to make a payment of $250 every month for 43 months.

Since you should be able to advance your career and take on more advanced nursing roles once you’ve obtained your degree, it’s likely that the expense will be worth it.

The university also clearly states the total cost of each degree pathway, something many other schools don’t do.

As of August of 2022, the total cost of tuition and fees for the Pre-licensure track is $52,175, and the total cost for the RN to BSN program is $10,649.

3. Earn Your Degree Fast

If you’re looking to advance your education and career as quickly as possible, Aspen University’s BSN program can help you do just that.

Meanwhile, the RN to BSN pathway can be completed in as little as 12 months.

4. Flexibility

For both of Aspen’s BSN tracks, there are multiple course start dates throughout the year.

Impressively, the RN to BSN pathway offers 10 courses with start dates every two weeks.

While we just mentioned that the completion degree can be earned in as little as 12 months, you also have the option to learn at your own pace and take longer if you like.

Cons of Aspen University’s Online BSN Program

The biggest thing to be wary of with Aspen Univerisity is that the school previously featured a Pre-licensure track in addition to their RN-to-BSN. However, the Pre-licensure track was suspended in September of 2022 for failing to meet NCLEX pass rate requirements.

It’s worth noting that, in order to get your degree from Aspen, you’ll already have to already be a licensed RN, meaning you’ll need to have already passed the NCLEX. There are plenty of good reviews and things that make this university a good choice.

So, we don’t think the Pre-licensure suspension should scare you off from considering this school.

Conclusion

While Aspen University’s BSN program is best for those who already hold an RN license but want to advance their careers, you’ll be able to earn your degree quickly, and you’ll also be able to plan your learning expenses.

Keep in mind, however, that it’s always a good idea to explore your options before committing to a program.
